As for the legislature, Democrats needed to flip four seats in the state House and six in the state Senate to break the Republican supermajority.

The top race in Tennessee is between Republican U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn and Democrat Phil Bredesen for Tennessee's open U.S. Senate seat.
