Dan Crenshaw: Veteran Responds To Pete Davidson Eyepatch Gag

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE-'Seth Meyers Episode 1749

SNL Denigrates Battle Wound of Former SEAL Dan Crenshaw

Davidson's segment on Weekend Update kicked off with his first impressions of several midterms candidates, though he didn't claim to be an expert on the races.

Davidson eventually got to Crenshaw, first telling the audience "this guy's kinda cool". "I'm sorry. I know he lost his eye in war or whatever".

Crenshaw is a retired lieutenant commander and former Navy SEAL who lost his right eye in Afghanistan after he was hit by an IED explosion.

He went through Rick Scott and Peter King before arriving at Dan Crenshaw. Four months later, fitted with a glass eye and his signature eye patch, Crenshaw was back on the shooting range in MS, training to rejoin his teammates.

Late Marcus Rashford goal gives Manchester United win at Bournemouth
The 27-year-old is certainly the best player we have at United and was brilliant in our 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday. Now, I enjoy comebacks as much as the next football fan.

On Sunday, Crenshaw responded to the dig on Twitter saying: "Good rule in life: I try hard not to offend; I try harder not to be offended".

McCain pointed out that Crenshaw was nearly certain to win, so she wondered why Davidson had insulted him.

Host Whoopi Goldberg, a comedian herself, said the joke simply wasn't very amusing, and co-host Sunny Hostin said it's usually a bad idea to make fun of someone's looks - but McCain suggested Davidson lacked standing to mock veterans.

"We need to stop thousands of people from illegally crossing from one side of our border to the other", he said. Here's the real atrocity of all this: It wasn't even amusing, right? "They took some time to stabilize me in Afghanistan and do the surgery to remove my right eye".

Trump, Democrats in frenzied final push ahead of U.S. elections
That barbed wire - yes sir, we have barbed wire going up. "We're not letting these people invade our country", he said in Georgia. Without invoking his name, Obama has accused Trump of lying and "fear-mongering" and has warned Democrats not to be distracted.

"I don't think he goes out to offend people", he added.

"Well, how do you know?" he asked Camerota.

"But I would like him and Saturday Night Live to recognize something", he added, "which is that veterans across the country probably don't feel as though their wounds they received in battle should be the subject of a bad punchline for a bad joke".

"I shouldn't be making fun of how anyone looks".

In addition, Wickremesinghe refused to accept his dismissal, claiming to be the country's legitimate prime minister. It has two prime ministers, or at least two politicians both laying claim to be the sole legal head of government.
