More than 60 foetuses in cardboard boxes and freezers found in US funeral home

The remains, found at the Perry Funeral Home near Wayne State University after a raid, were handed over to state investigators, the Detroit Free Press reported.

State inspectors found the unrefrigerated remains of dozens of deceased infants and fetuses in a second Detroit funeral home. He said he was "stunned" by the discovery, which came a week after the remains of 10 fetuses and one infant were discovered in a ceiling at Detroit's defunct Cantrell Funeral Home.

As many as 36 infants and foetuses were found stored in boxes, and 27 in freezers.

Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says the remains were turned over to state investigators, who immediately declared the business closed and its license suspended. Some of the bodies had dates of death in 2015.

Ms Dellihue said: "I paid money for my daughter, I want her you know.it's heartbreaking to know that people are out there doing sick things like that". In that case, an anonymous letter led state regulators to the building that housed the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Mr Craig said on Friday: "This is deeply disturbing".

Chief Craig said there appeared to be no connection between the two funeral homes, but says the tips and allegations that fetuses have not been properly disposed of, are similar.

Any bodies found on the premises of the establishment awaiting cremation or burial and any cremated remains found on the premises awaiting delivery to a customer were surrendered to the custody and control of LARA via its agent, Preferred Removal Services, Inc., a facility with adequate and appropriate refrigeration equipment and storage.

The US site added that the person may face a maximum of 10 years in prison and/or $50,000 (£38,250).

The mother and father sued Perry Funeral Home in July, alleging that the company had claimed to bury Alayah and several other infants at a particular cemetery, but had actually stored their bodies for years in a mortuary school morgue.
