Google: Pixel camera app to support external mics soon

Real-time Google Translate is no longer just for Pixel.

Although there's no official announcement about it, Google has updated its Pixel Buds support page indirectly confirming the rollout to all eligible earphones.

One of the features that wowed us when we first saw the Pixel Buds from Google was the instant translation feature - even if it worked a little slower than "instant" in practice.

Traffic crashes on rise in parts of U.S. with legalized cannabis
A report Thursday from a highway-safety research group supports the camp that believe the two are linked. Nine states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana for recreational use.

With other companies developing headphones that support Translate, like the LG Tone SE neckbuds which arrived back in August, this was a natural step for Google to expand. But that will change along with the retail launch of Google Pixel 3. Google Translate is capable of translating languages at the press of a button.

Real-time translation means the earphones can pick up conversations in different languages and translate them on the fly. Google's Pixel phones are best known for their camera, including the video capture. It was confirmed that the much-requested update for the stock camera app to support external microphones is going live as the Google Pixel 3 hits the stores. Soon, you'll only have to use one application for all your photo, video, and audio needs.

"At the same time as Pixel 3 launch (October 18), we will introduce support for Android-compatible plugged-in external microphones in the default camera app for all Pixels".

For more than two years, many users complained about the need for external microphone support.

IsaacOnCamera, a Google employee on the Pixel User Community page, broke the news late last week.

This comes across as a good news for those who keep the Pixel phones as their primary device to capture videos. Pixel 2 and 2 XL owners may not have been too sad, however, as they were assured that their older devices would be able to do some of these new tricks. Similarly, the older phones also can not perform Super Res Zoom, Photobooth Mode or Motion Auto Focus.
