Google Shuts Down Google

Google exposed personal data of almost 500,000 and didn't disclose it

Google Shutters Google+ Following Privacy Vulnerability

The cover up: According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Google discovered a bug in Google+ code in March and promptly fixed it, but decided not to reveal its existence. The technology giant opted not to disclose the problem last spring, the Journal reported, in part because of fears of attracting regulatory scrutiny.

One of Google+'s People APIs allowed 438 external apps to obtain users' names, email addresses, occupations, genders and ages, even for accounts that were made private.

The company says it didn't find any evidence that any of the affected personal information was misused.

Mr DellaVedova added that if "known good" tubes are already in place, then those planes will be returned to operational status. The Israeli military said the USA has shared the findings of its investigation into the F-35 crash two weeks ago.

Google+ was heavily promoted after its 2011 launch, in the hope of overtaking Facebook in the early days of social media. It is a root-and-branch review of third-party developer access to Google accounts and Android device data and of our philosophy around apps' data access, he wrote.

"Whenever user data may have been affected, we go beyond our legal requirements and apply several criteria focused on our users in determining whether to provide notice", Ben Smith, Google's vice president of engineering, said in a report.

Google is now shutting down Google+, but not due to the lack of users and activity compared to rival Facebook. So a group of the company's executives ruled that the firm should stay quiet about the flaw, and reportedly informed Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO, of their decision. This was not a successful venture for Google, and the latest data showed that 90% of sessions on the app were lasting less than five seconds long. Now, only apps that fit a particular use case will be able to access these permissions. As a result all European Union data protection authorities have jurisdiction to engage with Google on the breach. The objective of the audit was to re-examine all application programming interfaces (APIs) linked to Google+ and see if there were any data leaks.

Later, West gave a charged critique of the media, including SNL , where he voiced his support of Trump in an untelevised rant . Complaining about prison sentences, West said that people fall through a "trap door" and "end up next to the Unabomber".

Google is also updating Gmail's User Data Policy for the consumer version to limit access to user data.

"The consumer version of Google+ now has low usage and engagement: 90 percent of Google user sessions are less than five seconds", the company said.

Google's own social network, Google+, will shut down after a vulnerability exposed the personal information of over 500,000 users, according to CNET.
