Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh appears during a Senate confirmation hearing on Sept. 5. in Washington

President Donald Trump roundly defended Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh during a rally Thursday in Las Vegas and questioned why the woman who has accused the judge of sexual assault didn't come forward decades ago when they were both teenagers.

The letter, obtained by CNN, capped off a day of uncertainty around the planned hearing for Monday morning, which Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley had said he would hold to hear from both Ford and Kavanaugh, who denies the allegations.

"If she shows up and makes a credible showing, that will be very interesting and we'll have to make a decision", Trump told reporters as he left the White House for a trip to the Carolinas. I mean you could also say when did this all happen, what's going on? "Because this never happened, I had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself yesterday".

This comes as Vanity Fair is reporting Trump's daughter Ivanka has told her father to "cut bait" and drop Kavanaugh over the attempted rape allegations.

Multiple people shot in Harford County, MD
Three people were killed Thursday morning in a shooting at a Rite Aid distribution center in northeast Maryland , officials said . Governor Hogan says he is monitoring the situation very closely and is offering any additional support needed.

Meanwhile, on Facebook, Eric Ruyak, a former Prep student, wrote it was "no surprise" Judge was involved in Ford's allegations, adding that he defended a priest from the school that Ruyak said molested him.

Ford has accused Kavanaugh of attacking her and trying to remove her clothing while he was drunk at a party in 1982 when he was 17 years old and she was 15.

McConnell expressed confidence that Kavanaugh would be confirmed. "They want to hear what she has to say". "Now members of the American public are calling for Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh to open an investigation, especially if the FBI doesn't". The belief was that Ford would not meet the deadline of 10 a.m. Friday that Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, set to let the committee know whether she planned to attend to the Monday hearing. Ford has been invited to testify Monday, but it's uncertain if she'll appear. Mark Judge, a high school friend of Kavanaugh who Ford says witnessed the alleged assault, told the committee Tuesday he would not testify because he did not remember the incident. "Do the right thing for a change", Ms. Hirono said. "This is another attempt by Republicans to rush this nomination and not fully vet Judge Kavanaugh". Kavanaugh has denied the allegations. Republicans on the committee are arguing that they have given Ford sufficient time to respond, and have given her the option of testifying behind closed doors or speaking with committee staff in her home state of California. "I have no more information to offer the Committee and I do not wish to speak publicly regarding the incidents described in Dr. Ford's letter".

After Grassley rebuffed the request for an FBI investigation and President Donald Trump downplayed the notion, Ford's attorney Lisa Banks said on Wednesday that "the rush to a hearing is unnecessary, and contrary to the committee discovering the truth". After that, she suggested, senators would be allowed to pose questions.

Amazon reportedly plans to open 3,000 cashier-less stores by 2021
Amazon also operates or plans to open 18 bookstores, as well as a range of smaller pop-up stores in malls and Kohl's locations. But it has pushed back on past reports that executives had given the green light to a major expansion of Go.

But as Senators left town for the week, they headed home unsure as to whether Ford would be on Capitol Hill for testimony next Monday, as Ford's lawyers echoed calls by Democrats for a full Federal Bureau of Investigation review of her charge against Kavanaugh - before any hearing could take place. The FBI went to work questioning Hill and others, and ultimately the Judiciary Committee convened hearings at which she and Thomas appeared.

Later on Monday, two of Kavanaugh's ex-girlfriends - Maura Kane, who dated him in high school, and Maura Fitzgerald, who dated him in college - issued statements vouching for Kavanaugh's character. They also want more witnesses besides Kavanaugh and Ford, hoping to avoid what they said would turn into merely a "he-said-she-said" moment.

"She's going to have an opportunity to be heard", said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
