Photos Of Typhoon Mangkhut Show Damage It's Wreaking On Philippines, China

Super Typhoon Mangkhut: Most powerful storm on Earth in 2018 kills at least 14 in Philippines

Typhoon kills two in Philippines, one off Taiwan

The Hong Kong Observatory on Monday (Sept 17) lowered its rating on Typhoon Mangkhut, which carved a deadly path through the Philippines earlier and is now battering China's Guangdong province, by one notch to Strong Wind Signal No. 3.

Residents hunkered down in their apartments, and streets in the usually buzzing city were deserted Sunday.

Authorities had issued their maximum alert, warning residents to stay indoors and away from windows to avoid flying debris.

Mangkhut damaged trees and buildings throughout Hong Kong. Now the storm is in China, where two were already killed in Guangdong province.

The hurtling storm then skirted south of Hong Kong and the neighbouring gambling hub of Macau, before making landfall in China.

Mangkhut was still expected to bring heavy rain to Hong Kong, with flood warnings in place for low-lying areas.

The European Union (EU) has expressed its readiness to assist the Philippines in the recovery and relief operations due to the destruction caused by Typhoon "Ompong", the European Delegation in Manila said.

But as the details began to leak, Ford found that her identity was being made public and her story was being called into question. She says Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed, and groped her, and held his hand over her mouth to muffle her screams.

The transport disruptions were expected to persist over the week ahead, although most ferry operators, franchised buses on 120 out of more than 600 routes, and minibuses on 600 out of 655 routes, had resumed services by late afternoon.

The China Meteorological Administration said the typhoon, dubbed "King of Storms", swept west to Guangxi province at 6 a.m. (2200 GMT on Sunday) and weakened to a "tropical storm".

In Macau, next door to Hong Kong, casinos were ordered to close from 11:00pm Saturday, the first time such action was taken in the city. In the Philippines, where most of the deaths have occurred, a landslide caused by the storm is mainly to blame.

The storm skirted past China's semi-autonomous city of Hong Kong, where Mangkhut's renewed winds reached 117mph, rattling skyscrapers, toppling trees, and tearing scaffolding from construction sites.

The head of the military's Northern Luzon Command, Emmanuel Salamat, told Reuters that at least 19 more were killed in landslides in one part of Benguet Province alone.

At least 391 people were injured by falling debris as winds whipped through the city, slicing through hundreds of trees and causing deep flooding in low-lying areas such as Hang Fa Chuen and Siu Sai Wan, which were badly hit by Typhoon Hato previous year.

MTR Corp, the city's sole rail operator, revealed that a number of ground sections of its service lines were affected by fallen trees and objects.
