Tony Finau has been named to the Ryder Cup team, the final pick by USA captain Jim Furyk.

Finau was one of a handful of US players who joined Furyk on a trip to Le Golf National in July, prior to the Open Championship.

The 28-year-old placed in the top 10 at three of this year's majors - only missing out at the US PGA Championship - but his last win on the PGA Tour came back in 2016.

"He has an unbelievable body of work this year", Furyk confirmed in a statement after the finish of the rain-delayed BMW Championship. He had 11 top 10s. "Tony played well in big moments this year".

Furyk announced last week that Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau would be joining his team, and Finau completes the roster.

The eight Americans who qualified on their own were Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, Webb Simpson and Patrick Reed.
