Capcom Vancouver was the developer for Dead Rising 4

Tuesday's news, first reported by GameDaily, came after Monday's press release from Capcom in which it announced the termination of all projects under development at its Vancouver studio. Only "a skeleton crew will remain until January 2019 to finalize closure operation and logistics", a Capcom representative said.

'As a result of reviewing titles in development at Capcom Vancouver, Capcom has chose to cancel the development projects at this studio and will concentrate development of major titles in Japan'.

Dead Rising 4 was a sales disappointment for Capcom.

In February Capcom announced it had canceled at least two projects at the studios: an unannounced action-adventure title, and the next Dead Rising title.

Capcom Vancouver was initially founded as Blue Castle Games, when they were best known for baseball series The Bigs.

According to Capcom, 158 people will lose their jobs due to the shutdown.

Capcom says it expects to record about $52 million in losses from the cancelled projects. While the statement said the hard work and contributions of the Vancouver team were appreciated, "the CV studio will suspend operations, effective today, so the current staff will be laid off and the office will be closed".

Earlier this year, we learned that Capcom Vancouver had been hit with layoffs as the studio struggled to make headway with future projects.

Amazon launches small business shop
Minnery said he started selling his toys on Amazon Handmade about two years ago and was asked by Amazon to join Storefronts . Customers are now able to browse through the Storefront's 25 categories including pet supplies, electronics, and books.

So, what does this all mean for the "Dead Rising" franchise?

"In consideration of this process, as a result of reviewing titles in development at Capcom Vancouver, Capcom has made a decision to cancel the development projects at this studio and will concentrate on the development of major titles in Japan", the statement says.

Capcom's statement on the closure is interesting though as it implies that all its major titles, whether that includes Dead Rising or not, will be developed in Japan.
