President Trump on Wednesday doubled down on his administration's response to Hurricane Maria that slammed into Puerto Rico previous year leaving almost 3,000 people dead - and lashed out at the mayor of San Juan who has been a critic of the effort as "incompetent".

But after visiting the island last September, Trump said that Puerto Ricans were fortunate that the storm did not yield a catastrophe akin to the havoc wreaked by Hurricane Katrina along the Gulf Coast.

The president has consistently applauded the Maria response, even as the estimates of deaths in Puerto Rico caused by the storm have climbed from 64 to 2,975 people, making it the deadliest hurricane to hit America in more than a century. "When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths". "Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000".

Earlier this week, after Mr Trump hailed the United States response in Puerto Rico as "tremendous" and "an incredible, unsung success".

Microsoft reportedly warning users not to install Chrome, Firefox on Windows 10
Considering the popularity of Chrome and Firefox, Microsoft's tact to shame users into using Edge isn't going to be well received. Oh, and this window will keep appearing, unless you go into Settings and stop Windows 10 from offering you app "recommendations".

Of course, the 2,975-person death toll from Hurricane Maria was not a Democratic ploy to hurt Trump.

The findings were embraced by the government of Puerto Rico as the study was released.

20,000 pallets of water bottles were found left unused in a runway in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, in the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Maria, CBS News has reported.

Where does the official death toll come from?

The new report looks at how power outages and medical infrastructure also impacted lives and led to deaths on the stricken island.

Man arrested in Saudi Arabia for having breakfast with girl
It has sparked outrage in a country which considers it unlawful for a woman to spend time with a man who is not her relative. Women and men are not allowed to sit together unless they are close relations.

Last May, Harvard University public health researchers estimated the death toll was even higher.

After going on to talk about Puerto Rico barely getting by now right now, Joey Crack went on to pray for those in the path of Hurricane Florence and hopes the US government will do a better job with this relief effort.

"Only Donald Trump could see the tragedy in Puerto Rico and conclude that he is the victim", said Sen.

But perhaps worst of all is the fact that Trump is using words like "tremendous" and "success" to describe a response to a storm that ultimately killed nearly 3,000 people, more than the roughly 1,800 killed by Hurricane Katrina and about the same number of people who were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
