Diego Godin REJECTS chance to make late move to Manchester United

Diego Godin has snubbed an approach from Manchester United to stay in Madrid

Sources close to the negotiations confirmed on Thursday that officials from United contacted Atletico this week to discuss a deal for Godin, who was entering the final year of his contract.

Sky Sports News broke that news about United's interest in Godin, but now Sky journalist Kaveh Solhekol has tweeted out stating that Atletico rejected the approach - seemingly nearly instantly.

A leader and a champion defender, Godin has a huge admirer in Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

Look England seek to surpass India without Stokes at Lord’s
But Stokes was omitted by England because he is in court this week on a criminal charge of affray. As far as the play on the first day is concerned, it is likely to be washed out.

At the time United were themselves scrambling around to get a deal for either Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire, Jerome Boateng or Yerry Mina over the line, without any success.

It seems Man Utd have also made an audacious attempt to sign Godin as ESPN are one of several outlets reporting they have made it clear to Atletico Madrid they are willing to meet the defender's £18m release clause. It is understood that the defender is likely to sign a new contract with Los Rojiblancos instead.

A host of defenders have been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9: What We Know Three Days Before Its Launch
The company attributed the sluggish performance to the weak sales of the Galaxy S9, along with increased marketing expenditures. Much is known about the handset thanks to the numerous leaks that just keep better and better as we near its official launch.

That's right, the player's team led on the Red Devils - despite Mourinho's apparent suspicions - to secure themselves an improve situation while United struggled for a new centre-back.

After all the frustrations of pre-season so far, it's cruelly apt that their business would conclude by Godin's agent misleading them at the last minute.

Godin is rightly regarded as one of the best centre-backs in world football right now and despite his age, would have been a massive coup for Mourinho's side going forward.
