The American, 37, converted a 20ft birdie putt on the final hole for the PGA Tour's first 59 in 2018.

The 10th sub-60 round on the PGA Tour belonged to Snedeker on the opening day at Sedgefield Country Club, although he did not get off to a great start as he bogeyed the 10th before he bounced back with four straight birdies. He played the front nine in 27, including an eagle 2 on the par-4 sixth hole when he holed out from 176 yards.

"When the 5-iron got close on seven, I was like 'Okay, you got to do it - it's not going to get any easier than this, '" he added.

"I better be smiling", Snedeker said.

"Nobody could see this coming - trust me", Snedeker said.

But at the par-4 eighth, Snedeker missed a six-foot birdie putt and tapped in for par.

On top of another almost 3-hour, 30-song set, the show featured an - um - interesting poster designed in part by Ament himself. It's nearly impossible to go a week without listening to your music but that all ends tonight.

"Ended up being a good thing looking back", said the eight-times PGA Tour victor. "This means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of this golf tournament".
