The series, along with the President, have been surrounded in controversy in recent weeks after former contestant-turned-Trump-staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman claimed in her book Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House that the new President had repeatedly used racial slurs, including the N word, on the set of The Apprentice.

Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former White House staffer, may have as many as 200 secret recordings of her time with the Trump administration, according to the New York Times.

On Thursday, Manigault Newman released audio of the president's daughter-in-law Lara Trump offering her a $15,000-a-month job working for the Trump 2020 reelection campaign.

She told The Associated Press this week: "I will not be silenced". I will not be intimidated. "Now that she says bad about me, they will talk to her. Fake News!"

The letter advises Simon & Schuster that the Trump Organization will have claims against the publisher if it publishes the book, including claims for tortious interference with the confidentiality agreement and inducement of Manigault Newman to breach the agreement.

"Unhinged" has spent the past few days at No. 2 on Amazon.com's best-seller list, trailing only Rachel Hollis' lifestyle book "Girl, Wash Your Face".
