"It was his first day on the job with this moving company (Bellhops) and he was "training" today", Lamey wrote. So he recorded his answers again.
Chattanooga-based tech moving company Bellhops rewarded a new employee's dedication and humility after he refused to let vehicle problems prevent him from making it to his first day of work. Not knowing anybody on the moving team, Carr didn't call them for a ride.
She continued: "He WALKED ALL NIGHT to get from Homewood to Pelham".
Lamey said that Carr complimented her kitchen, noting that he would like a similar one some day.
After about three hours of walking, Carr found himself in Pelham, where concerned officer Mark Knighten pulled over to ask if he was okay. He drove from Tennessee under the notion he'd meet Carr, who also has aspirations of joining the U.S. Marines, to thank him for his work ethic and maybe have a cup of coffee with him. After hearing his story, the officers took him out to breakfast before dropping him off at Lamey's home.
Firefighter died in bulldozer near Yosemite
The terrain surrounding Mariposa County's deadly Ferguson fire is a virtual tinderbox primed for disaster, experts say. Archer County Judge Randall Jackson said these fires have him considering reapplying for a disaster declaration.
"I said, 'I just paid my rent".
"I asked him if he was exhausted from all that walking and he said replied that he wasn't and that he had a four-hour nap before he left at midnight", Lamey continued in her post. "I said I'm going to get to this job one way or another".
"I want to show my job I am what I said I was in my interview-that I'm dedicated".
That's not all. On Monday, the CEO of Bellhops, Luke Marklin, chose to give Carr a little gift - his own personal 2014 Ford Escape, WKRG reported. "It's in much better hands with you than it is with me, and I couldn't think of a better way to part ways with this or to put it to better use", Marklin told Carr, according to the Homewood Star. "Nothing is impossible unless you make it impossible".
Walter Carr soon learned that the comeback is always stronger than the setback, after an incredible ordeal earned him the admiration of his boss and a very generous gift.
Comcast drops pursuit of Fox assets, will focus on Sky offer
Lions Gate Entertainment Corp LGFa.N rose 5.2 percent on investor speculation it could become an acquisition target. Comcast announced on Thursday that it will no longer be pursuing its bid to obtain 21st Century Fox assets.
When they heard his story, the officers chose to take him to breakfast at Whataburger and made sure he got something for lunch, too.
Lamey shared Carr's story on her Facebook page and it got over 800 shares on the first day.
He worked on his Bellhops application over and over to get it ideal, and when asked why he walked he said, "Determination". ". It's that "Never die" attitude". For many of us, that would be scary, but it was a blessing for Carr.
According to media reports, Walter Carr's 2003 Nissan Altima conked out just before his first day at the Bellhops moving company. "I can only be defeated if I allow myself to be defeated". "He certainly made an impact on us". "I just keep thinking now, 'What would Walter do?'" said Lamey.
We have some real problems in America right now and we hear about those all day long, but thank goodness that's not the whole story.
