Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeemul Haque on Sunday said President Ashraf Ghani has invited Pakistan's Prime Minister-elect Imran Khan to visit Kabul, according to a Geo news report.

He expressed hope that democracy will take deeper roots in Pakistan, a PMO statement said.

It added: "Prime Minister also reiterated his vision of peace and development in the entire neighbourhood", MEA spokesman said.

Chairman Imran Khan, who is poised to become prime minister of Pakistan, has chose to retain his NA-95 Mianwali seat, ARY News reported. Khan's PTI took 117 seats, giving neither an outright majority and forcing both to try to form a coalition government. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the son of assassinated two-time prime minister Benazir Bhutto, was third with 43 seats.

Khan was today inching closer to form a government in Pakistan with the support of allies and independents even as a multi-party meeting rejected the poll results alleging rigging and demanded "transparent" re-election.
