Lunar Eclipse on July 28, LAPAN: Longest in This Century

People in many countries have caught a glimpse of a "blood moon" for the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st Century. During total lunar eclipses, the moon turns a deep red color when it enters the depths of Earth's shadow. The period of complete eclipse-known as "totality", when the moon appears darkest-lasted from 1930 to 2113 GMT.

Next lunar eclipse is expected to be in January 2019, experts said adding the rare phenomenon was seen by almost all countries except the United States of America.

Thousands of people will be able to see the total eclipse when the full moon slips into the Earth's shadow.
