US-based firm Harley-Davidson plans to put a brake on Royal Enfield's plans with its strategic move to come out with motorcycles in the small and mid-sized segment.

It will also associate with third party e-commerce companies to help leverage its popularity in apparel and merchandise.

Coming in 2019 is the LiveWire, Harley-Davidson's first electric motorcycle.

This new product and broader distribution are meant to fuel Harley-Davidson's customer access and growth in India, one of the largest, fastest growing markets in the world, and other Asia markets.

Long queues as Zimbabwe votes in first post-Mugabe election
Foreign observers say the election is an opportunity for Zimbabwe to separate itself from its violent and repressive history. The two main presidential rivals voted Monday morning, and each said they were confident of victory.

Little is now known about Harley Davidson's Pan America, other than it's being tipped for a launch in early 2020, and it will feature an all-new 1250cc engine.

He also defended his company's decision, much criticised by President Donald Trump, to meet increased European Union tariffs by expanding production operations overseas. The new LiveWire will be the first in a broad, no-clutch "twist and go" portfolio of electric two-wheelers created to establish the company as the leader in the electrification of the sport. In fact, bikes from KTM and BMW Motorrad are already on Indian roads, and new brand such as Bajaj-Triumph and Husqvarna are all set to be introduced in India soon.

'I would be more inclined to buy it than I would a traditional motorcycle, ' said Ms Kay, 25, adding that she rode a moped in high school and college and thinks the smaller, electric models would be easier to navigate in the city. Aesthetically, all three models are different from the current crop of Harley-Davidson's signature heritage cruiser designs. Harley-Davidson is also changing its retail strategy and expanding its push internationally following declining US sales. The cult American bike maker has made a decision to manufacture "more accessible, small displacement" bikes in the 250-500cc range, which would be targeted at India and other Asian markets.

Harley will be developing a new flexible architecture to spawn motorcycles from 500-1250 cc segments while the 250-500 cc bikes in the pipeline will appeal for the masses in India.

San Antonio Aquarium releases statement, video following shark theft
In a freaky case, two men and a woman stole a shark from an aquarium by disguising it as a baby and putting it in a stroller. Salvaggio said the group likely knew what they were doing, and that they very possibly targeted that shark specifically.

Harley Davidson is not alone.

Harley-Davidson's plans are expected to intensify competition for Eicher Motors Ltd's Royal Enfield, which is a segment leader and has nearly no competition as yet in the domestic market.

The company is now one of the world's largest motorcycle manufacturers and an iconic brand widely known for its devoted following.
