Braden Varney, a bulldozer operator with Cal Fire's Madera-Mariposa-Merced Uni, died while battling the fire on Saturday when his bulldozer reportedly rolled over.

Varney's body will be retrieved Monday at the earliest because it's in a "precarious location" and conditions were too unsafe over the weekend, Cal Fire Deputy Chief Scott McLean said.

The Yosemite Cedar Lodge is normally buzzing this time of year.

Crews are fighting the Hendrix Fire, burning in the Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest 10 miles south of Ashland, and the Gravel fire, burning near Prospect, Oregon.
