After winning the title in his first season in charge, Conte has fallen out with the Chelsea board this term and bemoaned the deficiency of world-class signings in his squad.

Now with the new Premier League season less than a month away, Chelsea still haven't released current manager Antonio Conte.

It became clear on Thursday afternoon that Chelsea had finally reached an agreement with Conte for his dismissal, with former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri set to fill his compatriot's spot in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

Conte won the Premier League title in his first season in England, but came under incessant pressure during a hard second campaign which saw the London club fail to qualify for the Champions League.

He also clashed with senior players such as Diego Costa and David Luiz while others had begun to grow tired of his methods. A native of Lecce, Conte signed a two-year extension in August of 2017.

Antonio Conte has been in charge at Stamford Bridge for two years.

Sarri could be followed by midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, with Chelsea willing to pay £50m, plus £7m in bonuses, for the pair.

According to Football.London, Chelsea are at an impasse with Sarri's former club Napoli.
