Rose McGowan says Anthony Bourdain reached out for help before his death

Anthony Bourdain's 11-year-old daughter kept her father close as she took the stage in a performance, days after the acclaimed writer and chef took his own life, Bourdain's estranged wife said on social media.

Busia-Bourdain is a martial artist who, in 2016, wrote an op-ed for Cosmopolitanabout how a jujitsu class changed her life.

"And when he came back at the end of that summer, we talked about and since he had so little interest in his college career, I suggested the Culinary Institute and that's how it all started", she added.

"We are asking you to be better, to look deeper, to read and learn about mental illness, suicide and depression before you make it worse for survivors by judging that which we do not understand, that which can never fully be understood", she says. "I spoke to my closest friends and loved ones", he wrote.

Bourdain was found dead in his hotel room in France on Friday.

The mixed martial arts fighter was married to Anthony for nine years before they split in 2016 because of his busy schedule. In a phone interview with Today shared on Monday's broadcast, the former editor for The New York Times said there was "Not a one (sign), ever" that something was off. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Thank you for sharing your strength in this hard time and for being Anthony's daughter'. Saturday morning, she shared a screenshot of Argento's most recent Instagram post featuring Bourdain, writing, "Through space and time, Anthony". Anthony's internal war was his war, but now she's been left on the battlefield to take the bullets. She claims that people who knew Bourdain or were fans have wanted to "lash out and blame" someone for his death but shouldn't blame Argento. They laughed, they loved and he was her rock during the hardships of this past year.
