India gears up to celebrate 4th International Yoga Day

Yoga which originated in India has become immensely popular over the years around the world

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined thousands of volunteers performing yoga asanas in Uttarakhand's Dehradun to mark the 4th International Yoga Day on Thursday.

Addressing a large gathering with the British-era Friday building in the backdrop, Mr. Modi said yoga has shown the world the way from "illness to wellness" and enriching lives across the globe. Instead of further animosity, Yoga assimilates.

Yoga was also performed on board the Japanese naval ship JS Ise and on the Indian Navy's INS Sahyadri taking part in military exercises in the western Pacific, the Indian Navy said.
