Democrats compete in Virginia's 10th Congressional District primary

Democrats in Virginia are hoping to do their part in claiming control of the House of Representatives, and it begins with nominating a slate of candidates in Tuesday's primary election.

A little after 4 p.m., Trump tweeted his disdain for incumbent Republican Rep. Mark Sanford, the former governor of SC who has voiced his disdain for Trump in the past.

Nevada is crucial to the Democrats' chances of winning back the Senate. But Hillary Clinton carried the district easily in the 2016 presidential race, so many analysts believe an energized Democratic base could carry the day in November. Democrats have long eyed Heller's seat, making him one of the GOP's most vulnerable incumbents this cycle.

Laxalt is the state attorney general and he's favored in an eight-way Republican primary Tuesday.

And in the 3rd District, philanthropist Susie Lee is favored in the Democratic primary, while Republicans could choose Danny Tarkanian, the son of the legendary UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian, who dropped his Senate bid at the urging of Trump.

Six candidates are vying to take on Comstock, including several who have successfully raised more than $1 million. But if Sanford loses - a real possibility - it'll be because of his criticisms of the president. If he loses, it would be a warning to other incumbent Republicans who have criticized Trump in the past.

Judge approves AT&T merger with Time Warner
