"The TFTC again demonstrated its great value to worldwide security by disrupting Iran and Hezballah's destabilizing influence in the region".

The bans were mainly targeted at Shura Council, the primary decision-making body of the resistance movement.

The decision on Wednesday comes as part of the seven member nations of the Terrorist Financing and Targeting Center (TFTC) which Saudi Arabia co-chairs.

In a statement on its website, the US Treasury Department said that it had imposed sanctions on the members of Hezbollah Shura council in partnership with Saudi Arabia and other Persian gulf Arab states.

Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin said in a statement that "under the dictates of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force, Hasan Nasrallah is prolonging human suffering in Syria, fueling violence in Iraq and Yemen, putting the Lebanese state and the Lebanese people at risk, and destabilizing the entire region".

The latest United States sanctions came one day after the Treasury Department slapped sanctions on governor of Iran's Central Bank Valiollah Seif, alleging it had funneled funds to Hezbollah. He has also managed "Hezbollah's" bank accounts.

In particular, the black list includes the leader of "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah and Qassem, and several members of the Executive Committee of the group. It and its political allies made significant gains in Lebanon's parliamentary election earlier this month, boosting an Iranian-backed movement fiercely opposed to Israel and underlining Tehran's growing regional clout.
