This time, sources said the results of gram panchayats could be out by noon on Thursday and those of panchayat samitis by 4pm. Each counting centre will have a three-tiered security system, with armed security personnel guards.

Bankura gram panchayat: TMC leading in 912 seats seats, BJP leading in 35 seats, Left Front leading in 19 and Independents in 3 seats. In West Midnapur district, out of 3040 Gram Panchayat seats, the contest was conducted on 2224 seats.

Under an order of the Supreme Court, polling took place in around 66% of the seats.
