National Weather Service Confirms Two Tornadoes Hit Connecticut

The National Weather Service conducted a survey of the storm damage and determined that roughly five tornadoes and four downbursts produced widespread damage in the Hudson Valley and ct. A macroburst with wind speeds up to 110 miles per hour hit Brookfield, Connecticut, pulling trees from the ground and damaging homes.

The second report said an EF1 tornado moved along a 4.5 mile path from Southbury to Oxford.

Severe weather was also reported in New Jersey, Long Island, and New York City with wind gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour with some storms.

Authorities said a 41-year-old woman died in New Fairfield when a tree struck her vehicle.

The National Weather Service also confirmed two macrobursts hit during the storm.

Residents in these towns are still working to clean up after the storm.

Both tornadoes caused downed power lines and uprooted trees in their paths.

The NWS completed a storm survey of the damage Wednesday night. Putnam County grappled with 144 closed roads.

Known as a meteotsunami, it resulted in fluctuating water levels for several hours Tuesday.

The storms downed trees and power lines across the region.

Airlines also canceled and delayed flights in and out of the region.
