Man attacks Jetstar plane after storming the tarmac

Airport baggage handlers managed to restrain the man before the Australian Federal Police arrived and escorted him away.

The extraordinary scenes unfolded today after the traveller missed his flight and attempted to forcefully enter another plane that was preparing for take off.

The unruly traveler somehow made it past the crew and up to outside the aircraft, where he proceeded to yank on the handle, placing his foot against the plane to get more leverage. He tried to board a plane to Sydney.

The alleged offender was then filmed trying to rip open the front door of the Jetstar aircraft before restrained by baggage handlers.

There's been a security scare at Melbourne airport this morning, with a passenger attempting to break his way onto a Jetstar plane.

Video footage obtained by 9News shows the man try to open the door several times, becoming increasingly flustered with each forcible attempt.

A Jetstar spokesman said the man's behaviour was "unacceptable" and the company has banned him from travelling on any future Jetstar and Qantas flights.

"We were sitting waiting to get on the flight and people went, 'Oh my god, what is going on?'" Murray said. "Someone was running on the tarmac".

According to local news reports, police are investigating whether criminal charges against the dogs' owner are in order. A pack of seven dogs attacked a Texoma woman this past Thursday and the owner of the animals had them put down.
