Due to the bandh, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses to operate only till Andhra Pradesh state border today. Reacting over the one-day statewide bandh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that bandhs are not welcome in the state as they avert development. This bandh evoked violent response in the state. The Chief Minister also advised restraint on the part of the protesters so that no inconvenience is caused to the people.

The protests for special status for Andhra Pradesh gathered momentum in the past few months since political parties demanded "Special Category Status" previous year. The state was bifurcated in 2014 and the political parties have been protesting against the Centre for not fulfilling its promise of special status tag. Schools and banks as well as government offices will remain open and working despite the bandh. "Naidu doesn't have any sincerity on the special category status issue".
