Jio Home to offer HD channels in Rs 400, claims report

To recall, Jio's entry in the telecom segment made other players like Vodafone and Airtel miserable for some time until they one-upped their game to match Reliance Jio and conserve existing users from switching to Jio.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance is planning to launch Jio Home TV.

The battered telecom sector companies will be reporting another set of subdued numbers for the January-March quarter, with revenues likely to show a correction of as much as 40 per cent, analysts have said. The eMBMS or Enhanced Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service, as explained by the report, is a hybrid technology that combines one-to-many broadcasting architecture used by TV channels and FM radios with the one-to-one architecture used by telecom service providers. This new service from Reliance is yet again aiming at disrupting the market just as it did with Jio.

The JioHomeTV may offer standard-definition (SD) channels at Rs. 200 and standard definition + high definition (HD) channels at Rs. 400.

According to a report by TelecomTalk, Reliance Jio is expected to launch the Jio Home TV service soon.

Given the report's sources, Jio will be taking it as JioBroadcast service for all the Jio users in the next few weeks as the test trial has already been completed.

WaPo/ABC Poll: Democrat advantage on voter preferences and enthusiasm shrinks
Self-reported registration is one indicator as it is less a measure of actual registration than of political engagement. The added cash will help Democrats pour more money into advertising and voter outreach efforts.

Reliance Jio has always been working on its DTH services as per various reports. This helps with scalability. JioHomeTV will work on Jio LTE-Broadcast devices and users won't have to have an active internet connection to avail it.

In addition, Reliance Jio had an app called JioBroadcast in Google Play Store, which has since been removed, but the timing of this latest information aligns perfectly towards the company's plans to rebrand JioBroadcast to JioHomeTV. The upcoming service from Reliance is rumoured to be based on the latest Enhanced Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) technology. But it is not clear if the company will continue providing content through its MyJio suite of apps upon the launch of JioHomeTV or Jio set-top-box or replace it with the new eMBMS service.
