The pub chain said the move also takes into account recent concerns over the misuse of personal data and the addictive nature of social media.

JD Wetherspoon has closed all of its social media channels, with the United Kingdom on-premise operator claiming that services such as Twitter and Facebook have become too addictive.

Tim Martin's nearly 900-strong pub chain will have no social media presence following a spate of negative publicity surrounding platforms such as Facebook, which has recently sparked uproar following claims users' details were misused.
