She reportedly may have been left paralyzed had she not been treated.

People magazine reports Miller underwent emergency spinal surgery Tuesday.

Her weight loss surgeon, Dr. Michael Russo, previously told TMZ that Miller's health issues were due at least in part to her thyroid medication being held from her. On the plus side, she has shown some progress in 24 hours, something that makes the doctor hopeful.

He added that the Dance Moms star now feels like she can move her arms and she now has more sensation after the surgery. All you can do is pray and, as a surgeon, you maximize everything you can for the spinal cord to recover itself.

Barring complications, Melamed said Miller could be released from the hospital in a few days.

Miller had been serving her 366-day sentence for bankruptcy fraud at the Victorville Federal Correctional Institution in California since July. Prior to this news, it was reported that she was sent to a hospital just two weeks into her stay at the halfway house, Residential Reentry Center. She was additionally fined $40,000 and ordered to pay the $120,000 judgment, as well as give a DNA sample relating to her felony charge.
