EF2 tornado confirmed in Amherst and Campbell Counties

Severe weather had moved east by Sunday night, but the Roanoke and New River valleys were continuing to see rainfall, according to the National Weather Service in Blacskburg.

That rotating severe thunderstorm rushed north along the US 29 corridor out of North Carolina, where a tornado responsible for one death and at least 10 injuries tracked for almost 34 miles after touching down in Greensboro. On top of the tornadoes we also had over 150 reports of large hail and thunderstorm wind damage as well.

One of the strongest twisters in Arkansas' weekend storms, an EF-2, hit Mountainburg in southeast Crawford County late Friday afternoon, according to a storm survey.

The damage caused by the tornado caused Governor Ralph Northam to declare a state of emergency Monday.

Tornado warnings were issued for parts of northeast Ohio Sunday evening. Damage was reported to 160 buildings in Crawford County. No serious injuries were reported in those storms.
