'bad timing' for Comey interview, book

Reuters: Highlights from James Comey's new book - "A searing memoir by former FBI Director James Comey, who was sacked last May by U.S. President Donald Trump, is due to be published next week".

Trump fired Comey in May, leading to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

In his interview Sunday, Comey said Trump could be guilty of obstruction of justice in the way he tried to get the Federal Bureau of Investigation to drop a probe of one of his staff in early 2017.

Comey was widely condemned by lawmakers across the aisle during the 2016 election; first by Republicans after initially dropping the investigation; then by Democrats for opening it just days before the election. "Disgruntled, he, McCabe, and the others, committed many crimes!"

Comey said he doesn't "buy" into speculation that Trump is "medically unfit" to be president, but rather condemned the president's ethics largely due to his handling of Charlottesville and, as Comey put it, his treatment of women "like they're pieces of meat".

Bertucci's the latest restaurant chain to declare bankruptcy
The deal is valued at roughly $20 million, the Wall Street Journal reported. The chain intends to sell its assets, it said in a release Monday.

He was referring to Clinton's use of an unencrypted emails sever to send classified information - which Comey insists he investigated fairly.

He talked about his first meeting with President-elect Donald Trump in January 2017 - noting the elaborately coiffed hair, which Mr Comey says "looks to be all his".

"I'm troubled by the timing of the book and some of the content that has been reported because I think it diminishes him" former assistant director of the FBI Ron Hosko tells TheDC.

It is unclear why Trump thinks reopening the probe into the email server would help Comey get a job with the Clintons. She accused him of peddling a "revisionist version of history" and sinking into the "gutter" with petty comments about the size of Trump's hands and the length of his tie.

In fact, Trump has struggled to find lawyers to handle Mueller's probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election and any potential coordination with Trump's campaign, and investigators in NY say they took Cohen's materials in the Monday raid because his communications with clients could be part of the commission of a crime. Just another of his many lies.

JD Sports bucks retail woes with hike in annual profits
JD Sports, alongside its core sports retail business, also runs fashion and outdoor retail outlets such as Scotts and Blacks. Earnings before tax for the whole outdoors division, including the brand, were £23m, up from £7m previous year .

Trump has repeatedly suggested that the President's office is above the law by indicating that since he was elected, everything he does is kosher and he can not be held to the same standards as ordinary people.

Comey said the FBI opened its counterintelligence investigation into potential Russian election interference in July 2016, triggered by discussions that George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign adviser, had in London. Comey remembered Trump saying, "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go". So far, 19 people - including Flynn and Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort - have been charged in the investigation. Freeh refused to do it, he basically told him I'm going to fire you.

Comey says Trump seemed fixated on an allegation made in a dossier compiled by a former British spy - and funded by Trump's political opponents - involving Russian prostitutes urinating on a bed in a Moscow hotel. But if you believe Comey, as I think most reasonable people would, then he has provided an important set of facts that have to be dealt with - by prosecutors, by Congress, and by the voters.

"People in this country need to stand up and go to the voting booth and vote their values", he said.

"You can not have, as President of the United States, someone who does not reflect the values that I believe Republicans treasure and Democrats treasure and independents treasure", Comey said. "That's our foundation. And so impeachment, in a way, would short-circuit that".

Trump seeks to build alliance to strike Syria
Earlier, Russian officials said some missiles were intercepted by the Soviet-made antimissile batteries used by Syrian forces. America has deployed its Carrier Strike Force USS Harry Truman from Norfolk, Virginia, along with other warships.
