Ant McPartlin has been sentenced after pleading guilty to drink-driving

Prosecutor Katie Sinnett-Jones told the court McPartlin was driving around a "sharp bend and lost control" during the crash as he collided with another Mini Cooper before driving, according to Sinnett Jones, "straight into the front of an oncoming car".

Standing in the dock, Ant spoke to confirm his name, date of birth, address and nationality before pleading guilty to a single charge of drink-driving.

McPartlin gave a roadside breath reading of 75 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35 microgrammes. The driver of one, reading a witness statement, said that his vehicle "came round the corner like a rocket".

Dembele: I won't leave Barcelona after just one season
Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele insisted he would be at the LaLiga giants "for a long time" despite being yet to hit top form. A serious hamstring injury within his first few matches has restricted the Frenchman's chances of impressing this season.

She added: "I think it will have quite an impact on you to know you're no longer a man of good character".

Speaking briefly outside the court following sentencing McPartlin said: "I just want to say I'm truly sorry for what happened".

The court heard Ant's barrister Liam Walker said his client had been seeking help for "alcohol and emotional issues" at the time of the crash. In it he accepted full responsibility and said that he is "ashamed and mortified" and that he intended the incident would be a turning point for him.
