Police said that there had been 29 people on board the team bus, including the driver, and 14 were injured, including some in critical condition.

The RCMP continue their investigation into a deadly crash that they now say claimed the lives of fifteen people.

Among those killed were the team's head coach Darcy Haugan and captain Logan Schatz, Associated Press reported.

Humboldt Mayor Rob Muench, wearing a green and yellow Broncos team jersey, hugged people Saturday morning as they came to the Elger Petersen Arena in the Saskatchewan town to comfort each other and learn more. The Broncos' head coach had played in the junior hockey league in the 1990s.

The defenseman, 21, had played two seasons with the Broncos and "absolutely lived and breathed hockey", his cousin Alicia Wack said.

The Broncos are a close-knit team who dyed their hair blond for the playoffs.

Conner Lukan, 21, of Slave Lake was on the bus as it travelled to a playoff game Friday in Nipawin.

Expressions of support poured in, much of it focused on a Twitter photo that showed three injured players grasping each other's hands while lying on hospital beds.

A vigil was scheduled for the hockey teams home ice Sunday night, and a makeshift stage and hundreds of chairs sat ready for the memorial.

The bus driver for Charlie's Charters, the official carrier for more than a half-dozen hockey teams, spent a good deal of his time shuttling players between rinks, often in bad weather, said Kris Babbings, manager of the Kinistino Tigers, on Twitter.

The driver of the truck was uninjured and after initially being arrested was later released. Royal Canadian Mounted Police Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki said it was too early to state a cause for the crash.
