President Donald Trump reportedly informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the USA will not be flexible with European powers in negotiating changes to the stipulations and limitations around Iran's nuclear program. "Trump said he demands "significant changes" in the Iran deal itself and not simply the addition of a supplemental agreement between the US and the European countries, according to the officials".
As Tillerson was replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a vocal opponent of the JCPOA, Votel warned that a breakdown of the deal would mean the USA needed to find another solution to address accusations that Iran was planning to build nuclear weapons, charges that Tehran has vehemently denied. "He has made clear that he too will never accept a nuclear-armed Iran, and I salute President Trump on this".
United States officials will pick up discussions with their European Union counterparts about the fate of the Iran nuclear deal. The US president also threatened to withdraw the US from the agreement if it is not amended.
