Each of the men has been charged with arson in connection with the mosque bombing.

Prosecutors say the men threw a pipe bomb through the window of the mosque, causing extensive damage.

They were arrested along with a fourth man on suspicion of illegally possessing a machine gun. In court files authorities say Hari, McWhorter and Morris were responsible for the bombing of a mosque in Bloomington, Minn., on August 5, 2017, and the attempted bombing of the Women's Health Practice in Champaign, Ill., on November 7, 2017.

According to a 16-page probable cause statement filed in U.S. District Court in Urbana, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives received a tip February 19 about potential bomb-making materials at the home of Hari's parents in Clarence.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Hari Tuesday morning as he was traveling to a court appearance in Ford County, Illinois, for a hearing in an alleged assault case.

The affidavit says, a confidential source told police in Ford County that Hari had guns and bomb-making materials inside his parents home.

McWhorter originally denied having any knowledge of the mosque bombing, but according to the complaint, he later admitted to it, stating he, Hari and Morris drove to Minnesota in a rented vehicle. The suspect told investigators he and the others did not intend to kill anyone in the mosque but wanted "to scare them (Muslims) out of the country". "Why this one out of the 75 mosques in Minnesota?" said Asad Zaman, an imam, and Muslim Society of Minnesota executive director.

"The President's failure to condemn the terrorist attack on the Bloomington Islamic Center is an outrage", Ellison, the deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), said, according to Bloomberg News. "A search warrant was also executed at a store/office owned by Hari, located at 100 S. Main Road in Clarence (Illinois.)" Even as officials in Illinois sorted through charges against the quartet, federal authorities in Bloomington, Minnesota, were announcing the mosque-related developments late Tuesday afternoon.
