Shane McMahon injured in attack by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

As it stands, Owens and Zayn are slated to face off at WrestleMania, but all indicators point to that match being altered. From there, it only got crazier, as Owens headbutted Vince McMahon in the middle of the ring - setting the stage for a Hell in a Cell match between Owens and Shane at Survivor Series. However, things did not go down as planned for the SmackDown commissioner. Owens and Zayn wrapped a steel chair around Shane's neck and drove him and the chair neck-first into the ring post. He also declared a match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 34. The duo went on to drag Shane backstage, where he was powerbombed onto a metal rack, resulting in trapezius and rhomboid strains.

Owens and Zayn, who had seemingly stopped teaming up together in their pursuit of the WWE Championship, were upset with McMahon who involved himself in their title match at Fastlane and cost both Superstars their chance to become champion. Shane was seen gasping for air after the brutal powerbomb.

Oregon Ducks women's basketball plans watch party for NCAA Tournament seeding
That's the reaction of a team that couldn't have predicted, coming off a 7-22 campaign, that they'd make the NCAA tournament . For comparison's sake, the Broncs score 81.7 points per game (30th nationally) and shoot 46.5 percent from the field.

The blue brand's commissioner began his speech by saying he would be taking some time out from his on-screen role with Daniel Bryan due to return after a miniature hiatus of his own. The shocking move to turn the very likable Zayn babyface was initially met with excitement about the prospects of where it might be headed, but almost half a year later, the feud has largely been a never-ending cycle of nothing that obviously never had a clear end goal in mind.

Notably, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon also had their share of differences with the former insisting on doing what was right. The SmackDown Live episode on March 13 has opened up several possibilities. A wedge was ultimately driven between Owens and Zayn, sure, but in the process SmackDown was bogged down by a rivalry between Shane and Bryan that couldn't physically be paid off because of Bryan's current medical situation.

Of course, no one is putting all the blame on Owens and Zayn for that noticeable dip in interest and TV ratings. Further updates on McMahon's status are expected in the next 24 hours.
