Flooding is expected for coastal residents.

Current predictions have Linda passing by the coast without making landfall, turning back into a tropical low by early morning on March 15th (Thursday).

The primary impacts will be risky surf conditions and erosion on south-east Queensland beaches.

But forecasters don't believe the weather system will strengthen into a cyclone, and it's not even expected to dump much rain.

'We are expecting to see strong winds and large swells and abnormally high tides, ' spokesman Jason Argent said.

"However, on Thursday morning, tides are likely to exceed the highest tide of the year, with inundation of low-lying areas possible on the high tide", they said.

A severe weather warning remains in place for coastal areas in the Wide Bay, Burnett and the southeast. Residents close to beaches are being advised to have sandbags ready.

The warning comes after the north of Queensland has been devastated by floods which last week was declared a disaster situation.
