Pacers beat 76ers in playoff atmosphere in Philadelphia

Two night removed from beating up the struggling Brooklyn Nets, they couldn't get over the hump against the Eastern Conference's third-place Pacers.

Joel Embiid scored 29 points with 12 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and eight turnovers during a 101-98 loss to the Pacers on Tuesday.

The biggest reason the Sixers lost was the 21 turnovers they committed. DeMar DeRozan and reserve Fred VanVleet scored 15 points apiece for the Eastern Conference leaders, won won their ninth straight and 16th of 17.

House votes to trim Pa. Legislature, but bill's fate is unclear
The House has rejected a Republican bill easing how experimental drugs are provided to people with terminal illnesses. President Donald Trump called on Congress to pass the legislation during his State of the Union address in January.

Bojan Bogdanovic has averaged 19.4 points and 1.6 steals over the last five games for Indiana. The Sixers were left with 7.6 seconds to score three points to force overtime. T.J. McConnell had four points and just one assist while grading out at a game-worst minus-14. He shot 50.0% from the field, making 10 of his 20 attempts (5/5 from the line, 2/5 from three-point range). With 11 points and 13 rebounds, Philadelphia's Ersan Ilyasova put together a good outing. He also had more fouls (three) than rebounds (two). In their last three games against playoff contenders, they've lost to the Pacers, Heat and Bucks since March 4.

Russell Westbrook and Ben Simmons are making the triple-double look easy in the National Basketball Association. He attempted (and missed) a game-tying three with six seconds left. The Pacers, as was the theme in the quarter, would pull away and take a 33-23 lead into the second quarter, due in large part to Myles Turner's 10 point first quarter.

The 76ers have climbed the rankings this season in defensive rebounds per game (#1), assists per game (#3) and offensive rebounds per game (#4).

Embiid then picked up a technical with 44.2 seconds left in the period for shoving Lance Stephenson in the back after Stephenson converted a layup. The game finished with a total of 192 points, which was 18 points below the projected point total of 210 points. Meanwhile, the 76ers are 35-17 ATS in their last 52 home games, 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points. The Pacers power forward scored 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Victor Oladipo finished the game with a team-high 27 points against their last opponent, the celtics. Former Sixer Thaddeus Young scored six of his 11 third quarter points as soon as Simmons left and helped IN take a 80-71 lead. IN had a better effective field goal percentage (0.556 vs. 0.494).

- Best statistic: I had to give this to Redick's shooting 80 percent on three-pointers. The 76ers had a fantastically low turnover percentage of 8.0 (better than their season average of 14.8) and held the Nets to an effective field goal percentage of 0.447 (below their season average of 0.508). They continue to find ways to commit unforced turnovers.
