Even Queen Elizabeth herself, the human embodiment of poise and restraint, would likely find herself angry to discover that the actress who plays her on Netflix's The Crown earned less than her male counterpart during the first two seasons of the critically-acclaimed period drama.
They said from now on, no actor on the show will make more than the Queen.
The Crown's salary news is just the latest instance of Hollywood's egregious wage gap. Olivia Coleman ("Broadchurch") will replace Foy as Queen Elizabeth.
Devil May Cry's Dante Will Join Monster Hunter
With Devil May Cry HD Collection arriving today, the timing of this new promotion is certainly more than a mere coincidence. Perhaps it's no surprise, then, that we're seeing Capcom roll out tie-in after tie-in for Monster Hunter: World players .
Last year, Variety reported that, compared to Foy, more established female television stars like _Elizabeth Moss of The Handmaid's Tale-who earned seven Emmy nominations during her Mad Men run-commanded a reported $200,000 per episode. In 2017, Foy won best lead actress in a drama at the Golden Globes, and she was nominated for the same honor in 2018.
While The Crown's first two seasons featured a pay gap between Foy and Smith, Mackie assured the audience at INTV that the gap would no longer be in effect as the show moves into Season 3.
After the admission, Mackie added, "Going forward, no one gets paid more than the Queen".
To be fair, Smith also received many award nominations for his work on the show, though it wasn't as resonant a performance as it was for Foy. Olivia Colman (Golden Globe victor for AMC's The Night Manager) will take over for Foy as Queen Elizabeth, while the new Prince Philip has yet to be cast.
Delhi Trade Bandh: Shops shut down to protest sealing
AAP might pass a resolution in favour of traders in the assembly budget session and send it to the Centre for consideration. The traders are suffering a lot due to the collusion and fake fight between the BJP and the AAP.
While it's positive that the pay scale will be rebalanced from here on out, at this point it won't do Foy any good.
However, I would like to state for the record that her getting paid less than Matt Smith is bullshit of the highest order.
Foy made $40,000 per episode, Variety revealed a year ago.
