A U.S. Navy F/A-18 Hornet jet crashed off the coast of Key West, Florida, on Wednesday, an official told Fox News.
Two pilots ejected from the aicraft at around 4.30pm local time and a rescue effort is now under way, according to the US Navy.

A blaze engulfed the jet before it crashed around a mile away from the runway, a witness told Local 10 News. Hecht said the officers were rescued from the water and taken to Lower Keys Medical Center for treatment.

The attack happened sometime around 5 am in the morning when he was accompanied by his wife Pankaja Thakur at the farmhouse. His driver, Lakshman Singh was cited on NDTV saying, "He had no health issues and last night (Tuesday) he was fine".

ABC News reported that a spokesperson said one pilot ejected but it was "unclear whether the pilot was over land or water".
