Irrfan Khan releases a new statement revealing that he is suffering from neuroendrocrine tumour

Actor Irrfan Khan in a recent statement revealed that he has been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor.

The actor, 51, said it has been hard dealing with the disease but people around him have given him hope and support to fight it. The neuroendocrine tumour begins with cells that produce hormones in the body's neuroendocrine system.

As it was already cleared by Irrfan, Neuro doesn't mean that the cancer is related to the brain, as they most occur in intenstine, but are also found in pancreas, lung other parts of the body.

Symptoms for neuroendocrine tumour include flushing, diarrhea, asthma or wheezing, congestive heart failure (CHF), abdominal cramping, peripheral edema and heart palpitations.

The actor is flying overseas to seek treatment and says he hopes to be back with 'more stories to tell'. These cells perform specific functions, such as regulating air and blood flow through the lungs and controlling how quickly food moves through the gastrointestinal tract.

On February 21, the actor's spokesperson released a statement that he was diagnosed with a "severe case of jaundice".

Khan, who has also starred in Hollywood hits "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" said that he will be leaving India and travelling overseas for treatment.
