There is a lot of chatter out there about whether or not Arizona is still in the running for Kirk Cousins.

The former Washington Redskins and Michigan State University quarterback is reportedly planning to sign a fully-guaranteed contract to join the Minnesota Vikings. Reports have stated that the Vikings are offering a three-year deal north of $28 million per year - and the assumption is that it will be fully guaranteed.

Cousins is set to make his decision this week, after a few visits with teams, though it seems as though the Vikings are the frontrunners for his services at this early stage. "The plan is to visit Minnesota first".

Why does every decent quarterback who either approaches free agency or hits the open market automatically have to make more than the last guy who signed did?

Keenum, 30, joined the Houston Texans following the 2012 National Football League draft as an undrafted free agent. Over each his three full seasons as a starter, he has thrown for more than 4,000 yards with a completion percentage above 64 percent and at least 25 touchdowns. But this also could be Cousins having some fun with all of us in his first time enjoying freedom after being franchise tagged the past two years. That set the bar for a long-term deal, and the Vikings can also offer a stable, winning situation coming off a trip to the NFC Championship Game.

If Cousins puts up the same kind of numbers that Case Keenum did for the Vikings in 2017, it might be hard to keep Minnesota from reaching the Super Bowl.

Which version of Case Keenum are the Denver Broncos going to get - the player who we saw in Houston and St. Louis, or the player we saw a year ago in Minnesota? The 2012 fourth round pick finished previous year 347-540 for 4,093 yards and 27 touchdowns to 13 interceptions.

"We all understand on how the quarterback position has a direct influence on how your team plays", Joseph said in February. Both men will be hoping last season wasn't an anomaly for Keenum.

The popular theory all along is that even if the Vikings get Cousins they'll still only have the 3rd best quarterback in the division, behind Aaron Rogers in Green Bay and Matthew Stafford in Detroit.
