Fitbit Versa unveiled: Pebble Time Steel's spiritual successor

The Fitbit Versa (short for "Versatile") comes with almost all the features its bigger sibling, Ionic has but costs only $199. The new Fitbit Versa introduces a much better looking design (subjectively speaking) with rounded corners instead of the sharp rectangular look of its predecessor. It's also £100 cheaper.

Little is known about the internals of the Fitbit Versa, but so far in our short testing time we've found it to load apps and dash between screens speedily.

As for price, the Versa is set to cost £199.99 ($199, about AU$350) in the United Kingdom, which is much cheaper than the Fitbit Ionic, as that started off at £299.95 / $299.95 / AU$449.95.

There's quite a bit to unpack in the Versa, so we've broken it down for you below.

The big tradeoff with the Versa is that, unlike the more expensive Fitbit Ionic and Apple Watch Series 3, among other more serious fitness trackers, it doesn't have built-in Global Positioning System.

For connectivity, both variants of Mi TV 4A come with three HDMI ports, two USB ports, Ethernet port, WiFi and a headphone jack. The new Mi TV 4A series will be targeted towards lower segment and is also "more accessible", according to the Chinese company.

"We've been panning our entry into smartwatches for a while", Fitbit CEO James Park told Mashable. "The Versa has a 1.34" display covered with Gorilla Glass 3 with a brightness of up to 1000 nits.

The Fitbit Ace, on the other hand, is a fitness wearable meant to help kids get into the habit of staying in shape and active through gamified activities and rewards. Becker explained that numerous parts of the design that interact with your skin are curved and made to appear and feel softer. It includes the PurePulse heart rate monitor on the back, alongside a Relative SpO2 sensor - which up until now has been pretty redundant. It also chose to go with what it calls a "squircle" design - yes, really- softening the hard edges of a square with rounded corners to make it feel more inviting. It's made from anodized aluminum, and comes in black, rose gold and charcoal - aka gray. For $30 extra, you can get a Special Edition model in either Graphite Aluminum or Rose Gold, both with woven bands.

As mentioned, Fitbit wants the Versa to appeal to a wider audience, and part of that audience is female.

Fitbit itself will also offer bands.

The watch comes with a silicone band as standard (worth $30/€30), but you can buy a Horween leather band for $50/€60 or a metal or mesh band for $80-$100/€80-€100. In addition to that, you can even store around 300 songs.

Chiefs set to sign WR Watkins, LB Hitchens
NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported, citing sources, the deal is worth "roughly" $16 million over the three years. The Rams had considered using the franchise tag on Watkins, but opted instead to tag safety Lamarcus Joyner .

When it comes to Fitbit Pay, the company's wearable payment service, the situation is a little. odd. We will bring you a full Fitbit Versa review as soon as we can. This will allow parents to keep a closer eye on their children's activity, progress, and friend requests in the Fitbit app. With the smaller design, the Versa's is the lightest weight smartwatch made of metal now on the market, Fitbit says. This health tracking feature will also be available for women who use the Fitbit Ionic or Fitbit app this spring. That's because they're created to help women track menstrual cycles, record symptoms from those, and compare them across cycles. Your Fitbit watch will also show your fertile window in your Today dashboard if you so choose. Once it has enough data, it'll also make cycle predictions. Fitbit is bright and engaging, a pleasure to use and compatible with a great number of other services too. There's also the option of a $229.95 Versa "Special Edition" in the US which includes NFC and supports Fitbit Pay.

For instance, it could recommend more sleep in the coming week because a bad period is on the way, or suggest easier ways to exercise if you're feeling too exhausted.

In terms of design, the Ace borrows heavily from the Fitbit Alta and Alta HR, with a few tweaks. "Advanced health and fitness features like 24/7 heart rate tracking, onscreen workouts, and automatic sleep stages tracking meet smart features like quick replies on Android, wallet-free payments on Fitbit Versa Special Edition, and on-device music - all with 4+ days battery life". Essentially, Fitbit has replicated the smartphone app's dashboard on your wrist.

In particular, he says, Fitbit thinks women are key to boosting consumer sales and deepening the already vast pool of health data that the company collects from its users.

Fitbit's redesigned smartwatch dives deeper into health data with female-focused features. The Fitbit Ace is set to be available in Q2 2018 and much like the Fitbit Versa, it can now be pre-ordered from the company.
