Assam E-budget 2018-19 Is Youth-Friendly And Progressive

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed he would present the state's first e-Budget at the legislative Assembly today.

The Budget estimates of 2018-19 show a receipt of Rs 90,673.42 crore under the Consolidated Fund, out of which, Rs 74,118.50 crore is on Revenue Account and the remaining sum under Capital Account, he said.

Under a Rs 30 crore scheme as mentioned in the budget, the BJP-led government promised an annual sanitary napkin allowance of Rs 600 per head to girls aged 12-20 years hailing from families earning less than Rs 5 lakh annually.

Aluminum, steel tariffs draw mixed reaction
The new arrangement imposes a 25 percent tariff on imported steel as well as a 10 percent tariff on imported aluminum. While exempting Canada from these tariffs would help preserve current trade relations with that country, U.S.

He said the scheme will be linked to their date of birth and payments will be directly transferred to bank accounts and payments will automatically stop once the girl turns 20. The minister proposed that almost five lakh girls will be covered under the scheme in the session 2018-2019.

The budget was formulated within the 3 stands of EKATRIKARAN- consolidation of policies undertaken in the last 2 years, XOMPROXARON- the expansion of some existing programmes and UTTORON- raising the standards of pursuance.

Sarma announced a slew of new projects and services, including setting up of 10 new law colleges and allotment of Rs 5 crore each to two model villages in each of the 126 assembly constituencies in the state. "It will also be published as a booklet in all leading Newspapers in the state", Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Explaining the new introduction, Sarma said that the MLAs will be able to access the tablets during discussion and cur motion on the Budget inside the House, and the mediapersons who are covering the budget presentation will be given a pen drive of 8GB with all the details.

"It will be available in Google Playstore as an App. People can download the budget from Google Playstore".
