Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been sucked into the continuing Alexis Sanchez saga as Arsenal look for ways to replace their want-away Chilean superstar, reportedly asking about the young French forward as part of some kind of exchange deal.

However, it has been reported that the Citizens are not willing to spend more than 20 million euros for Sanchez, giving Man United a free pass to sign the player.

Paper Round's view: Jose Mourinho has never been a fan of Arsene Wenger, and signing both players would be a huge blow to his opponent. With that in mind, Arsenal supporters will be clinging to some slender hope that the 29-year-old may yet extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium. The Brazilian will cost around 45 million pounds which in the current transfer market is quite a steal if you consider that Kylian Mbappe went for 186 million pounds.

The runaway Premier League leaders are reluctant to meet Arsenal's £35million valuation of the 29-year-old and are now not prepared to pay the £5m fee Sanchez's agent is demanding for felicitating any deal.

The 22-year-old has also registered more assists than Sanchez, at an average of 0.59 per 90 to the Chilean's 0.18.

'The word we can find to be speaking about players of other clubs. But Wenger reiterated his stance that this is the new normal because of inflated transfer fees that make it more profitable for players to run down their contracts and then ask for massive signing fees and wages from their new club instead. "So he wants to fight as well for the Premier League".

But Wenger played down talk of a move saying: "He is a good player but nothing is happening".

"I understand that the other teams (Manchester United and Manchester City) try to kill the other teams and to anticipate the situation".

Despite his form last season, the Swede hasn't been the same player since he briefly returned from a serious knee injury, only to revert to the treatment table.
