For several hours Wednesday, Twitter crackled with reports that a deal to send Cole to Houston was imminent.
The players the Pirates got in return for Cole is a bit underwhelming. Huntington is considering trade offers for other veterans, such as outfielder Andrew McCutchen and multi-purpose infielder Josh Harrison.
The Astros are adding Cole to a rotation that ranked sixth in the majors last season in ERA, WHIP, strikeout percentage and opponent batting average.
Then suddenly on Saturday it was announced that Cole was in fact being traded to the Astros in a five player deal.
