Patriots RBs Rex Burkhead Mike Gillislee not expected to play vs. Titans

Burkhead (knee) is not expected to play in Saturday's tilt against the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. White, who was dealing with an ankle injury, missed Week 17 but will be active.

Rex Burkhead appeared to be trending toward a return from a knee injury he suffered against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He averaged more than 140 total yards in the Pats' last two regular season games, with four touchdowns. Both players were initially listed as questionable with knee injuries. The 27-year-old was injured in a 37-16 victory over the Buffalo Bills on December 24. Until then, Dion Lewis and James White will be the lead backs for New England. Branch played in 12 games this season, including six starts, after being a regular starter the previous two seasons. A final decision on Burkhead's status will likely be revealed when the Patriots release their inactives prior to the game.

After Sinema's entry into the race, several national analysts rated the normally solid Republican seat a "toss up" in 2018. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) came across as a fierce and unhesitant supporter of President Donald Trump, the Hill reported.

It looks like Burkhead will have to wait a little longer, and if New England can't take care of business on Saturday evening, he'll have to wait a whole lot longer than that for his return.
