He said while India believed that"terror and talks cannot go together but talks on terror can definitely go ahead

Raveesh Kumar, spokesperson for the ministry of external affairs (MEA), confirmed that national security adviser Ajit Doval met Nasser Khan Janjua on December 27.

Kumar was answering queries about media reports on the meeting between Doval and Janjua in Bangkok Dec. 26 - a day after the mother and wife of retired Naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav met him in Islamabad and were subjected to humiliation by Pakistani authorities and a section of the press.

Raveesh made it clear that the meeting date of the NSAs was pre-decided.

Asked if more such meetings between the NSAs were scheduled, Kumar said "these operational-level mechanisms do take place. but we don't announce these meeting".

The Indian Express had also reported that Pakistan has maintained high-level diplomatic contacts with the Indian establishment, even as New Delhi has maintained the rhetoric that terror and talks can not go together.
