Manchester United prepared to battle Liverpool for Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic

And Dean Jones of Bleacher Report says Jurgen Klopp will land Pulisic in the future, claiming the Reds have never been closer to signing the Dortmund star.

In January 2018, news broke that Premier League clubs Manchester United and Liverpool are preparing to make bids for Pulisic during the Summer 2018 transfer window.

After a video of Pulisic dunking went viral earlier this month, the Borussia Dortmund attacker discussed his basketball fandom and admiration for the four-time NBA MVP. Pulisic broke out in 2016, in which he played 26 matches and over 1,500 minutes. The attacking all-rounder's seven goals and four assists were not enough to help the U.S. qualify for Russian Federation next summer, though, and the youngster has a simple recipe for success: copy his adopted homeland. Pulisic saw a reduction in playing time in 2017, playing 16 matches, but his goal production remained the same - three for the season.

Kieran Trippier "sold" Burnley to N'Koudou, telling the French youngster "good things about this club, about the players and everything about Burnley".

Pulisic has 20 caps and nine goals for the US men's national team, and has the potential to become a global superstar both on the pitch and commercially. Although the USMNT missed out on the World Cup, it highlights another aspect of signing Pulisic. Anyone following the worldwide scene is following Pulisic, so he would bring in a massive USA crowd for whichever team gets him.

Pulisic recalled dabbling in basketball before he joined the Dortmund youth setup in 2015, though his 5-foot-8 frame always meant soccer was the more realistic career path. He has a lot of pull there, and he is largely allowed to play his own game.

Liverpool and Manchester United are said to be chasing the attacker, 19.

In that game, Tyreke Evans and Marc Gasol combined to go just 9 of 31 from the floor, with Evans finishing with a mere ten points. The league's 29th-ranked offensive club lost despite scoring 13 more points than they had in any other game this season.

Pulisic is not the only youngster from across the pond to try his luck in Germany: Revierderby rival but off-field best friend Weston McKennie has been making waves for Schalke after swapping Dallas for Gelsenkirchen in 2016, and Josh Sargent - top scorer at last year's U20 World Cup in South Korea - is set to be promoted to Werder Bremen's first-team squad after impressing in pre-season.

The United States worldwide, who has admitted his love for Man United in the past, has emerged on the club's radar after becoming his country's youngest ever 'Player of the Year.
